The full name of the FCC is the Federal Communications Commission. It is an independent agency of the US government that is directly accountable to Congress. The FCC was established in 1934 under the Communications Act. The FCC coordinates domestic and international communications by controlling radio, television, telecommunications, satellite and cable in more than 50 states, as well as in Colombia and other regions within the territory of the United States. In order to ensure the safety and security of radio and wire communication products related to life and property, the Office of Engineering and Technology is responsible for technical support for the FCC and is also responsible for equipment approval. Many radio application, communications and digital products require the approval of FCC to enter the US market. The FCC investigates and studies the various levels of product safety to target the best way to solve problems. The FCC is also responsible for the inspection of other things including radio devices and aircrafts.
